What Is It About Our Mothers ?

My mother is a doll.  She spends a great deal of time helping us with the kids.  I adore her.  She has been my best friend and biggest supporter my whole life.  This is not to say that she doesn’t like to, every once in a while,  ”push my buttons”.  After all, she’s my mother.  No one knows how to do it better.  Every now and then, when she”s really bored, she’ll “stir it up” a bit with the siblings in our family.  ”Do you know your brother said …yadda, yadda, yadda”.  Thank goodness, she’s been doing this for so long that us kids know to check with the sibling mentioned before getting cross with them.  ;-)

Here’s an example for ya.  When the baby was three months old (He was 4 weeks early)  My Mom will come over and say “you should give the baby food”  ”The doctor said it’s not time yet.” I’d reply. She’d come back with “Well he probably wants food.” “He has no teeth Mom”.  ”I bet he’s hungry, if you gave him food, ……”  uhg!    My husband writes it off.  He says “She’s older. (in her 80’s) It’s kind of her right to mess with you at this point in life.  She can get away with it.  Kind of like the little old lady that gets away with hitting you with her purse.”  Ha!  Easy for him to say, she adores him and his parents are pretty much non-exsistant in our lives. So he’s got it easy.

I’m married with my own children.  You would think I would be over my mom being able to push my buttons.  But Nobody can do it better than my Mom.  So, Man !  What is it about our mothers ?

xoxo Love you, Mom ;-)
