Christmas Day 2012
We had the most wonderful Christmas. My husband and I were talking about how lucky we are to have family gatherings without any drama. Everyone loves to be together. His brother is here with us, “Uncle Jamey”. Jamey is the only person in my husbands immediate family that has anything to do with us and the kids. To Noah, Jameys arrival is about as good as Christmas day itself. He and Uncle Jamey have built tents, gone to see Santa, watched movies together and of course have had endless Star Wars play. He fits right in with my family too. They love him. He adds so much to our holidays just by being here. My husband and him are close. They enjoy just being together. This year we got to experience Jameys adventure making sweet potato pie. The sweet potatoes, my husband grew in the garden. The boys were up until 2am Christmas eve cooking. The pie was awesome. He even made the crust from scratch. His relationship with Noah is priceless. I think it’s fun to watch them play and have conversations. He’s a great uncle.
Our Christmas day was spent here at the house. Kids playing, opening their gifts. Adults hanging out, preparing the food. My Mom was in heaven surrounded by her grandkids My sisters 4 kids weren’t here, so she didn’t have ALL of her grandkids around. But, being with her grandkids makes her happy. They love her and give her such joy. Its neat to see that.
The kids had a blast. Jonah did his best, crawling all over to keep up with the bigger kids. It was nonstop play all day. They were all exhausted by 8PM. I think Noah took about 2 minutes to fall asleep. Jonah was playing in his crib for a bit, but, slept for most of the night. When everyone left and the kids were in bed me, my husband and his brother hung out talking until we couldn’t keep our eyes open any longer. All said, it was a perfect Christmas. Surrounded by loved ones. Kids laughter and family. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day.
