3AM Tornado Sirens

Well, it was a rough night for everyone last night.  We knew that a band of storms were coming through. We did as they instructed on the news. Went out into the yard and cleaned up all the kids toys and anything that could blow away. We put the weather radio and battery operated lights into the basement.  We put our cell phones next to the bed on HIGH in case weather warnings came up. We had a plan,if tornado warnings came,  Chris gets Jonah and I get Noah.

3AM.  You could feel the storm move in. I woke up and turned the TV on.Sure enough, they showed the line of storms coming right towards us. I thought I heard sirens and went to the door to see if it was the tornado sirens.  The closest one can barely be heard from our house. But, I heard it.  Off we went. Chris grabbed Jonah and I grabbed Noah.  We carried the boys downstairs to the TV room. Steps away from the basement. My cousin Alex is staying with us. I had gone to his room and knocked on the door to be sure he was awake. There we were watching the news and waiting out the storms.  We tried to keep the boys asleep and not alarm them.  It was kind of tense until about 4 and then all warnings were lifted.  At that point, Chris took Jonah upstairs and put him back in his crib. Noah wanted to sleep on the couch. I was too tired to argue so I crawled up near the couch on the floor and spent the rest of the night with in the TV room.

Carline was kind of funny. All the families at school had the same night. The kids were like zombies walking into class. Usually this crazy weather doesn’t kick in until spring. I guess this was a dress rehearsal for storm season in the south.
