Grandparents Duties

I know I’ve told you a thousand times what great grandparents my folks are. They love our kids unconditionally. They play with them, read to them and most importantly, they spend time with them. Our kids know their Nana and Grampy and they know that they love them. That’s an awesome thing.

I think  grandparents have a role.  Besides being present in the childrens lives, grandparents are there to spoil the children. My parents have that mastered. Noah will go to my Moms and she lets him rule the house. My Dad SKYPES with the boys weekly and reads them stories. Holidays, Birthdays, and for no occasion at all they give the kids a trinket, or toy, a game. When the kids get fussy, they help soothe them. When they have questions, my parents answer them. Today I found out where the Grandparents Duties end.

My mother was watching the baby while I ran out. She put him down for his nap and got him out of his crib when he woke up. When I got home from my meeting she was standing with him in the music room while he played the drums. I went in to say hi and give the baby a kiss. “He needs his diaper changed”, my Mom said. Hmmmmmm. She will feed them, play with them, buy them gifts, tell them stories, spoil them with junk food and let them take over her house when they visit. Dirty diapers ???  THATs where these grandparents draw the line.

Good to know…
